Acs proteins in S. enterica are acetylated by Pat, rendering them inactive. The sirtuin cobB deacetylates Acs with the use of NAD+. Once, deacetylated, acetate can be converted to the intermediate acetyl-AMP and then acetyl coenzyme A.
