Cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) that is classified as a pararetrovirus. This plant virus is known due to its negative effects on plant structure and growth. It was the first plant virus discovered to have a DNA genome and replicate via reverse transcriptase. Plants such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and turnips are examples of crops that have been impacted. CaMV is transmitted from plant to plant via aphids where virions make their way to insert themselves into the plants nuclear envelope where they inhibit growth and stucture of the host.
