Shewanella frigidimarina
Description and Significance
S. frigidimarina is a uniflagellate (motile) gram-negative rod. This psychrophilic species inhabits the water and sediments on the coast of Antarctica. It is important to humans because of potential biomedical applications and to the environment because of its uses in bioremediation.
