Photograph and diagram of the MEED facility. MEED was fixed to the TV Boom of the 1972 Apollo 16 Command Module. It was one of the first experiments to test the effects of exposure to outer space on microbes. There were 798 sample cuvettes with varying levels of exposure to the vacuum of space or solar UV radiation.
