The figure above shows that the number of cases of cervical cancer have significantly decreased in the past 50 years. This is due to the invention and the widespread, regular use of the Pap test and the HPV test. The figure illustrates that these two tests have been successful in cutting the number of new cases of cervical cancer drastically. This figure graphed data from before GARDASIL, the HPV vaccine, began to be administered. With the use of this vaccine, which protects recipients against four strains of HPV, two of which have a high probability of causing cervical cancer, this curve will continue to decrease. CITE.
