I was very impressed with your page. You presented complex information in a very clear, accessible, and understandable way. Your work was thorough and traveled in a nice, logical, and easy to follow progression.

A few suggestions you can choose to incorporate. As I was reading I thought about a few things I would like to know more about. Have there been any documented cases of resistance to sleeping sickness? Also, the paper you presented about rearranging the surface proteins was fascinating. I think it you went a little more in-depth into that section it could be helpful. Is there any diagram for the genome rearranging that you would be able to include? Furthermore, I think it would be useful if you added just a couple sentences about the cultural implications sleeping sickness has in different African populations. It might help to better understand the big picture. Last, I think I noticed one error, “The inadequacy of current treatments has spurred on research by associations like the World Health Organization (WHO),” so just give it a quick read-through. Overall though, a really comprehensive and fascinating page!


I was very impressed by your paper Ali. It was an extensive and thoughtful reflection on Trypanosomiasis and their ability to evade our immune systems. I thought maybe you could extend on the current treatments today and their specifics and limitations. The recent findings section is a bit dense and a little general. Could you provide more information about the specific studies and maybe a figure on the VSG/ISG information. The last section ties together points well but feels a little rushed. How can your results be extrapolated "in general"? What does this pathogen tell us about the immune system? What is the direction that new treatments are going in? Also, sociologically, how is the disease impacting Africa? other countries, populations? Is there a lot of funding for research or is it overlooked? I was VERY impressed with how you merged the complex research with your own reflections on importance and interpretation of the data. I felt as if I was being guided through the paper the entire time and it was very well-written and fluid. There are a couple grammar errors and there were missing italics in areas.
