Talk:Two Modes of Secondary Metabolite Biosynthesis by Members of the Genus Streptomyces

Sam, you should add some references to your photo captions. In addition, you need to add numbers to the references listed at the bottom of the page and then use superscripts for in text citations. Also, you must italicize scientific names of the bacteria in the text. Other than these little errors, I think the actual writing and information is good stuff. The introduction does a good job narrowing down the topic and establishing relevance in a medical setting. Perhaps a little more information on how these products work as anticancer or antimicrobial agents would further tie together the following information.

Really interesting topic that happens to be related to what I wrote about, so I found it particularly interesting! Are there any trade-offs that have to occur in order for streptomyces to synthesize these secondary metabolites (resource allocation)? Maybe a little more about the ecology of the genus, where it is found, and when/where it uses certain pathways. I really liked the medicinal information you included and like the above commenter mentioned if you wanted to go into a little more detail about human medicinal applications, both past and future, it would really sum up the topic thoroughly.
